New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has now decided to set aside his previous criticisms of former President Donald Trump and is now backing him as the likely Republican nominee for the 2024 election.
During the GOP primary, Sununu frequently voiced his disapproval of Trump’s language and supported his final opponent, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley.
Nevertheless, following defeats to Trump in multiple primary contests on Super Tuesday, Haley exited the race earlier this week.
During a radio interview on Thursday with WMUR’s Adam Sexton, Sununu restated his dedication to backing the Republican opponent of President Joe Biden in November.
“I’m going to support the ticket. I’m going to support Donald Trump. But my focus is definitely going to be here in the state.” Sununu said.
He proceeded to criticize Biden for his administration’s economic policies, disorganization, and handling of the current immigration influx at the southern border.
In previous interviews, Sununu has urged the GOP to look beyond Trump and described him as a burden on the party.
