The governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin (R), reportedly has a good chance to defeat Vice President Biden in his own state, according to a new Virginia Commonwealth University survey.
In a hypothetical presidential race between Youngkin and Biden, the survey from VCU’s Wilder School L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs indicates that Virginians support their governor, 44 to 37 percent.
Other poll results showed that Biden led former President Donald Trump by 3 percent in Virginia and that he was in a “even split” with Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The survey was taken between July 14 and July 25.
In the past, especially when previous GOP contenders struggled to overtake Trump in the polls, Youngkin’s name has been mentioned as a potential GOP presidential contender.
In a poll conducted in April, Virginians gave him a 57 percent favorable rating. Youngkin clarified that he has no intention of running for president in May.
