According to a court filing, the Department of Justice has reportedly provided former President Trump and his attorneys with an abundance of evidence in the Mar-a-Lago case, including grand jury testimony.
In this case, prosecutors interviewed numerous witnesses, including former members of Trump’s legal team who were compelled to testify before the grand jury.
The case files would also contain the testimony of Trump’s valet and co-defendant, Walt Nauta. Nauta is accused of lying to prosecutors about his role in transporting crates into and out of a Mar-a-Lago storage room during the recovery of the documents.
According to a synopsis provided to the court late Wednesday, Trump’s legal team was also provided with footage from security cameras.
The files, which constitute the initial phase of the discovery that will be provided to Trump’s team, contain only unclassified information.
Trump’s staff is still in the process of acquiring security clearances in order to evaluate the remaining case files.
While authorities discovered more than 300 classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, the case is founded on 31 files containing some of the highest-level classification designations.
