Tucker Carlson Blasts Trump Over Iran Rhetoric, Says President Has Shown ‘Incapable of Leadership’

Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson delivered a sweeping 90-minute monologue this week in which he sharply criticized President Donald Trump, arguing the president has demonstrated he is “incapable of leadership” over comments Carlson interpreted as threatening the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict involving Iran.

The video, released Wednesday night, was published under the caption, “Our political system has collapsed into paralysis and looting. Change is coming. Here’s what America should be.”

Throughout the lengthy address, Carlson outlined what he described as a 10-point vision for the country's future. The presentation has fueled speculation that the former Fox News host could be laying the groundwork for a potential third-party presidential campaign.

Before turning to his proposed platform, however, Carlson devoted a significant portion of the speech to criticizing Trump’s recent rhetoric regarding Iran.
Carlson argued that the current trajectory of the conflict raises the possibility of weapons of mass destruction being used, saying he believes the situation is moving toward a dangerous escalation.

“We are going to wind up, inevitably, with the use of weapons of mass destruction,” Carlson said.

He then pointed to statements Trump made on Truth Social, arguing they amounted to an open threat involving nuclear weapons.
“And you have one participant—President of the United States—openly threatening that already, on Truth Social, on the internet, for everyone to see: ‘We’re going to eliminate your civilization,’” Carlson said.

Carlson contended that such a statement could not be carried out using conventional military weapons.
“Well, of course, you can’t do that with Tomahawks, but you can with nuclear weapons,” he said.

The conservative commentator went on to argue that rhetoric of that nature raises serious concerns about where the conflict could ultimately lead.
“So you have the President of the United States—whatever they tell you—openly threatening the use of nuclear weapons in a conflict that has no immediate or obvious resolution,” Carlson said. “So where’s that going? Well, toward a nuclear strike. And what happens then, God knows.”

Carlson continued by warning that even acknowledging the possibility of nuclear weapons being used against civilian populations should be deeply troubling.
“But if you can even live with that fact—if you could even say, or just acknowledge without words, that yeah, this could wind up with people unleashing nuclear weapons on civilian populations—you’re already around the bend,” he said.

He then delivered his harshest criticism of the president, arguing that making or accepting such threats demonstrates a failure of leadership.
“You’ve already proven yourself incapable of leadership, because that’s crazy,” Carlson said. “That’s beyond reckless. That’s, well, it’s literally suicidal. And homicidal.”

The remarks represent one of Carlson’s strongest public rebukes of Trump, who had previously been regarded as a close political ally of the conservative commentator.

The criticism came as Carlson unveiled a broader political message centered on what he described as a vision for America’s future. The release of the video, combined with its focus on a 10-point platform, has prompted widespread speculation that Carlson may be positioning himself for a third-party presidential bid, though no such campaign was announced in the monologue itself.
