Trump Fires Back at Judge in Golf Course Fight, Posts Photos of “Trash Island” for Her to “Study”

President Trump ramped up his clash with a federal judge overseeing his plans to overhaul a historic Washington golf course, sharing a late-night series of photos on Truth Social and telling the judge to “study” what he called “Trash Island.”

The posts came just hours after U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes pressed administration officials over the redevelopment of East Potomac Golf Links. Reyes questioned the administration’s claim that the recent cutting down of hundreds of trees had nothing to do with Trump’s plans for the site.
“Here are pictures of Trash Island for the judge to study. This is just a small area, and better than some!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The post included nearly 30 images showing debris and damaged structures around the course.

TRUMP SLAMS “FRIVOLOUS LITIGATION”

Earlier in the day, the president took aim at the lawsuit challenging his redevelopment plans in a separate Truth Social post.
Trump called the case “frivolous litigation” before “a judge that seems not to want greatness for our capital or our nation.”
The president argued the course had been “badly managed for so many decades” and promised his plan would “turn trash Island into an island of beauty and success.”

NEW COURSE PLANS UNVEILED

The dispute heated up after Trump unveiled plans Sunday for an 18-hole championship course designed by architect Tom Fazio.
The president said the public facility would close Nov. 15 for roughly 15 months.

That announcement created an awkward moment in court. Administration attorneys had previously argued that the plans were still conceptual and had not reached a final stage.

JUDGE DEMANDS ANSWERS

Reyes confronted government lawyers Monday over the apparent contradiction.

“I have, on the one hand, the president of the United States saying to the American public three times now, I think, in the last two days, there is a final plan to redesign the golf course. Then I have you all telling me and, you know, witnesses saying what they’re saying, that there’s no final plan. Which is it?” Reyes said.
The judge has already temporarily halted any further tree removals after more than 400 trees were cut down on the property.

Reyes has questioned the administration’s explanation that the tree work was part of a years-old preservation plan, rather than Trump’s redevelopment effort.
“There is no universe in which all of this coincidentally happened all at the same time,” Reyes said Monday.

ADMINISTRATION SEEKS RECUSAL

The administration has separately moved to have Reyes removed from the case, accusing her of bias. Reyes declined to recuse herself.
Trump has also called the Biden-appointed judge a “crazed lunatic.”

The battle over the course shows no sign of slowing down. On one side, the president is pushing to transform a property he says has been neglected for decades into a championship-level facility. On the other, a federal judge is demanding clear answers about the administration’s plans and the removal of hundreds of trees.

For now, the fight over East Potomac Golf Links, and the fate of hundreds of trees on federal land, continues.
