Peter Doocy Details Trump Administration’s Reported Military Planning on Iran

Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy reported Friday that the Trump administration is weighing additional military action against Iran following recent national security discussions at the White House.
During a live report with Fox News anchor John Roberts, Doocy outlined what he described as the administration’s latest thinking after President Donald Trump met with his national security team in the Situation Room earlier this week.
Roberts introduced the segment by turning to Doocy on the White House North Lawn.
“To the White House, and correspondent Peter Doocy — he’s on the North Lawn. Good morning, Peter,” Roberts said.
Doocy responded by pointing to the Situation Room meeting, saying the developments now unfolding reflect what Trump had been briefed on during discussions with senior national security officials.
“And John, we are finally seeing in real time what President Trump was briefed about in the Situation Room a couple days ago, when he had the national security team there to try to figure out next steps to deal with the Iranians,” Doocy said.
According to Doocy, the next phase under consideration involves military strikes targeting infrastructure intended to disrupt Iran’s ability to supply forces connected to the Strait of Hormuz.
“The next step here is bombing bridges and roads, hoping to isolate the IRGC from resupplying the key to the Strait of Hormuz: Bandar Abbas,” he reported.
The report then included a brief clip of President Trump discussing developments involving Iran.
“We are likewise winning big in Iran, and you will see the fruits of that labor very, very shortly,” Trump said.
Returning to his report, Doocy said Iran has been occupied responding to recent American military attacks and is now attempting to rely on one of its proxy groups.
“And it’s true that the Iranians have had their hands full with American attacks, so they are now trying to enlist one of their terror group proxies, the Houthis, to shut down a pinch point of the Red Sea called the Bab el-Mandeb Strait,” Doocy said.
He added that experts believe even limited attacks in the area could have an outsized impact on international commerce.
“Experts say even a few small attacks can be severely disruptive to global shipping,” Doocy reported.
He also stated that activating the Houthis would represent another way Iran is violating a memorandum of understanding.
Following a brief clip of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Doocy returned to summarize what he said was the administration’s assessment of Iran’s recent decisions.
“And when you look at the decisions the Iranians are making — they had the opportunity to unfreeze accounts and lose sanctions if they just left things alone in the Strait of Hormuz,” Doocy said.
According to Doocy, Iranian leaders instead chose to maintain their position because of the strategic importance of the waterway.
“They decided that it was not worth it to them. Controlling the Strait of Hormuz is basically priceless,” he said.
Doocy concluded by arguing that Iran is now attempting to use one of its proxy organizations to exert influence over another strategically significant maritime route.
“That is why they are now trying to get one of their terror proxies to control another strait, John,” he said.
Roberts wrapped up the segment by suggesting Iran is paying a steep price for its actions.
“In terms of being priceless, they are discovering now just how expensive it is to try to close the Strait of Hormuz,” Roberts said. “Peter Doocy for us at 1600 Pennsylvania. Peter, thank you.”
